Absent motor response, or even a best response of extensor posturing, are not reliable predictors of a poor neurologic prognosis at 3 months. The cEEG finding of absent reactivity is good to know. Unfortunately, reactivity can be very subjectively defined. The sensitivity and specificity of this finding, at least in isolation, are poor. So, we need to go back and think about what are the strong predictors of a poor prognosis, and obtain that information from testing if not already available.
