Case-Based Modules > Case 12 > Stage 2

Sorry! At this time point, the utility of an LP is low. We still have other more pressing etiologies to rule out. Her clinical history is not suggestive of primary CNS vasculitis, but if we return to this concern after everything else has been ruled out, only then can you investigate that further. We already know she has an SAH, so evaluating for xanthochromia wouldn't be helpful. You could measure her opening pressure with this, but the yield for this is low, and a single normal value should not falsely reassure us if we were still worried about intracranial hypertension.
